Astaxanthin is a natural carotenoid and the red pigment of the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. Our astaxanthin is obtained from this microalga and embedded in MCT oil, which supports the absorption of the fat-soluble carotenoid.

Ingredients & classification

The softgel capsule contains astaxanthin-rich oleoresin from Haematococcus pluvialis in MCT oil; vitamin E (D-alpha-tocopherol) is additionally included as a natural protectant for the oil. No health claims are currently authorised for astaxanthin in the EU. According to the manufacturer, 2 capsules provide 8 mg of astaxanthin and 3.6 mg of vitamin E (30% of the nutrient reference value). The vitamin E serves to protect the oil; we describe the product in terms of its composition and make no effect claim about it.

Use & combination

Take 2 capsules daily, swallowed whole with plenty of water, with a fat-containing meal. As a fat-soluble carotenoid, astaxanthin is well absorbed together with some dietary fat.
