A study overview starts with the protocol, not a verdict: who was examined, what was compared, which endpoint was planned and how long did the study last? The papers below are examples, not evidence of a product effect.
How to read molecular-hydrogen studies
Population, intervention, comparator, endpoint and duration belong together. A small or open study can motivate a research question. It does not replace replication or make a statement about people outside its study group.
Kajiyama in the original context
Kajiyama et al. (2008) examined a clinical group described by the authors as people with type 2 diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance. The original report states its intervention, comparator and metabolic endpoints. This population does not support a statement about healthy people or a product.
Nakao and Song in the original context
Nakao et al. (2010) is an eight-week open-label pilot study of 20 people whom the authors assigned to a group with potential metabolic syndrome. Song et al. (2013) also reports a narrowly defined clinical group and lipoprotein endpoints. Openness, a small sample and clinical context limit transferability.
Limits and transferability
These papers are not consumption recommendations. Cell and animal work answers different questions from human studies. Individual findings cannot be turned into consensus, prevention claims or a statement about a beverage.
